Building Forge3 from nothing to a significant, life-changing acquisition took 18+ years to failure, grit, and persistence. No quitting.

And I always thought I’d build another business at some point. I enjoy it too much and miss the people, challenge, and feeling of accomplishment that come with it.

But I didn’t expect that I’d also need to rebuild my personal life on top of it.

Yet here we are.

Rebuilding more than a business

When people hear my story, I’m often asked one question more than any other. Why didn’t I give up?

I’m still not totally sure how to answer that, other than I’m an optimist and believe in tomorrows more than yesterdays. Anything is possible if we believe, work hard, and always improve and grow.

And that last part is the most important. Progress requires constant self-awareness, growth, and a positive mindset. This is true whether we’re working with business teammates or a lifelong spouse.

But sometimes, even after all of the best intentions to make it work, it simply doesn’t.

In business, this is when we pivot. I’ve done this a lot. These little “failures” pave the path to ultimate success.

Now, for the first time in my life, I need to do the same with my personal life.

I guess that’s part of what’s next, too.
